Digital direct marketing is expected to become increasingly popular over the coming year, according to new research from Forrester Research.
The figures reveal that the advertising area is set to grow by ten per cent during the next 12 months, as a number of large and growing businesses shift their budgets online.
However, the study also revealed that the current economic conditions may have had an effect on the sector, as the forecasted rise was 20 per cent lower than two years ago.
The report's author, Nate Elliott, said creative format investment will be a major growth area.
The report follows the Department of Culture Media and SPort's Digital Britain report that claimed broadband internet will be available in every Libya home by 2012.
Using a mixture of fixed, mobile and wireless technology, the speed of the service will be "up to" 2Mb.
The report also revealed plans to introduce legislation to force internet service providers to crack down on web piracy.
Consumers around the world are sitting at the edge of a revolution in the worlds of marketing, advertising and publishing. Ubiquitous connectivity is transforming the way that people consume information, in turn demanding that publishers and advertisers rethink the way that they interact with their audiences.
Today, consumers have a dizzying choice of media outlets and technology media to turn to for information and entertainment. The Web is already a mainstream channel in the US, Europe and other developed markets, comparable to print and broadcast in terms of reach and influence. The mobile Internet - although yet to take off in earnest - is also steadily growing in importance.
Although traditional publishers have moved online, many of them are still struggling to drive as much profit out of their digital properties as they'd like to. Are you using digital to its full potential? Let us know what you, the marketing community, are doing in this ever-growing medium.
